Celebrations took place across Karnataka as part of the 12th International Yoga Day under the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’.
The main event was held at the Vidhana Soudha, where Governor Tawarchand Gehlot and Health Minister U.T. Khader took part in the yoga sessions along with nearly 2000 participants, including students, volunteers, and members of the public.
At the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison, more than 4,000 inmates participated in a mass yoga session. The programme was attended by senior prison and police officials, including the Director-General of Police (Prisons and Correctional Services) Alok Kumar.
The Regional Office of the National Highways Authority of India, Bengaluru, along with its various Project Implementation Units, also organised yoga sessions across the State.
At Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, a yoga demonstration was given to heart patients, caregivers, and students.
Sankara Eye Hospital, in collaboration with Young Indian, commemorated the day by organising a specialised yoga session for persons with visual impairment and other disabilities. A yoga protocol was introduced in accessible tactile and braille formats, enabling independent participation and learning. The Keshava Seva Samiti, a private organisation, held mass yoga sessions on Commercial Street.
The Isha Foundation conducted yoga sessions for NCC cadets and the Border Security Force at Sadhguru Sannidhi Bengaluru, where around 3,000 people participated.
On the IIIT- Bangalore and Jnana Jyothi Campus of Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru City University, students, faculty members, and staff came together to practice yoga.
