Petrol, diesel prices hiked for fourth time in 10 days; latest by about ₹2.80

Prices of petrol and diesel were hiked for the fourth time in a span of 10 days, on Monday (May 25, 2026), this time by an average of ₹2.80 paise per litre across the country. With the latest revision, cumulative increases in petrol and diesel prices are almost ₹7.5 per litre since fuel rate revision resumed on May 15 after a prolonged freeze.

Trump tempers expectations of a West Asia deal with Iran

Ebola cases in Congo’s east climb over 900: authorities

Congolese authorities have said suspected Ebola cases have now passed 900 in the ongoing outbreak in the east of the country. The Congolese Ministry of Communication, in a post to X on Sunday (May 24, 2026), said that there were 904 suspected cases and 119 suspected deaths. Authorities had previously announced more than 700 suspected Ebola cases, and more than 170 suspected deaths, mostly in Ituri province, where the outbreak is centred.
