The Tambaram City Police seized 170 kg of ganja and arrested four interstate drug peddlers during a vehicle check conducted as part of a special drive against narcotics trafficking on Sunday.
Acting on the instructions of Tambaram City Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar, the Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) intensified checks against narcotics smuggling and other unlawful activities. During vehicle inspections at Thiruneermalai Service Road near Sridevi Treasure, the police intercepted a suspicious car with an Andhra Pradesh registration number.
Upon searching the vehicle, the police found 170 kg of ganja concealed in bags inside the car. The contraband and the vehicle used for transportation were seized. The arrested accused were identified as Palla Varahala Babu, 35, of Anakapalli, Galla Sathya Narayana, 29, of Narsipatnam, Senapathi Durga Prasad, 24, of Anakapalli; and Vankala Durga Prasad, 23, of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
