State-owned miner NMDC’s iron ore production in May rose almost 20% year on year to 5.31 million tonne, while sales declined.
The year earlier output was 4.43 MT. Sales last month stood at 4.04 MT (4.34 MT). For April, NMDC had reported a 16% increase in production to 4.64 MT (4 MT) and a marginal increase in sales to 3.68 MT (3.63 MT).
The company, which is India’s largest iron ore producer, had in FY26 registered a record 53.15 MT output of the key raw material for steel, which was 21% more than 44.07 MT in the previous fiscal. Sales rose 13% to 50.23 MT (44.40 MT).
