In a daring incident, unidentified persons broke into the house of woman, J. Rajam, in Sangeeth Nagar under Koodal Pudur police station limits and decamped with 30 sovereigns of gold and ₹20,000 on Monday night.

The police said that the woman had gone to her daughter’s house in the neighbourhood on Monday night and slept there. When she returned home on Tuesday morning she was shocked to find the iron grille gates and doors broken open.

The police deployed forensic experts and sniffer dog.

They are on the lookout for the burglars.
