Amid a political row over the expired build, own, operate, transfer (BOOT) agreement related to the Maniyar small hydroelectric project, Carborundum Universal Ltd. has expressed dismay over the recent takeover bid by the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB).
A senior official said the company had run the 12 megawatts (MW) unit on the KSEB’s request during the past one year although the 30-year BOOT agreement between the two entities had ended in December 2024. The generated power was supplied to the KSEB but the company is yet to be compensated for it, the official said.
