The Delhi Development Authority on Tuesday launched an AI-driven single-window building approval system under its Online Building Permit System (OBPS), aiming to curb corruption, procedural delays, and public harassment associated with the earlier process.
According to DDA officials, the platform will allow citizens, homeowners, architects, and developers to submit building plans, documents, and multiple no-objection certificates (NOCs) through a unified online system.
The initiative follows directions from Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu to improve the “ease of living” and “ease of doing business” in the Capital.
In a statement, the DDA said the earlier mechanism often resulted in delays, repeated visits to offices, and complaints of corruption and harassment. Mr. Sandhu had directed the authority to operationalise the new system at the earliest to streamline the approval process. The Lieutenant Governor will periodically review its functioning, the statement added.
Officials said the upgraded platform uses artificial intelligence for automated scrutiny of building plans and compliance checks. It also features geo-tagged mobile inspections and instant SMS and email alerts to enhance transparency and accountability.
Applicants will be able to track their applications in real time, pay fees online, and obtain digitally signed approvals without making repeated visits to DDA offices, officials said.
