A junior assistant in Salem Corporation was arrested for bribery on Friday (May 8). According to sources, Kulandaisamy (59), a resident of Ammapet and a fitter at the Ammapet zonal office in Salem Corporation, sought an NOC from junior assistant Deepan at the Ammapet zonal office as the former was going to retire this month. But Deepan demanded ₹8,000 as bribe. Unwilling to give the bribe amount, Kulandaisamy approached the Salem DVAC. Based on the DVAC’s direction, he gave the bribe to Deepan on Friday afternoon, and the DVAC sleuths, who hid in the office, caught Deepan red-handed. The DVAC registered a case and arrested him. An investigation is on.
