The State Expert Appraisal Committee has called for remedial and mitigation steps to ensure that the work on the Anakkampoyil-Kalladi-Meppadi tunnel road connecting Kozhikode and Wayanad districts is not affected in the impending monsoon season.
The committee’s observations came during its visit to the project site for two days from April 29. A release said that the committee was led by its Chairman Anil Kumar Bhardwaj, along with technical officials from the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority. The agencies involved in the work at the site were advised to ensure effective channelling of the monsoon surface water. The officials representing the agencies agreed to form special inspection teams to pre-empt and address such potential issues.
