Parents and students visiting Elango Corporation Higher Secondary School for admissions and marksheet collection expressed frustration over persistent administrative delays.
One parent, attempting to enrol his child in Class XI on Monday, said that school staff refused to issue the necessary marksheet.
Citing the absence of the headmaster, the staff instructed them to return the following day.
Upon returning on Wednesday, the parent alleged that school staff again cited the exact same reason, further delaying both the issuance of marksheets and the student enrolment process.
Pushed to their limits, the frustrated parents eventually got into a heated argument with the school staff.
However, he noted that the authorities eventually relented, allowing them to collect the marksheets and complete the admissions.
He further alleged that the school administration illegally charged ₹150 to issue the Transfer Certificate (TC) and marksheet, alongside an additional ₹210 for admission procedures.
“Since this is a government institution, no such fees should be demanded or collected from students. Charging a total of ₹360 for what should be free procedures is highly condemnable,” the parent stated.
However, the Corporation Education Officer maintained that the commotion and delays stemmed from parents arguing over group selection.
“Parents of students with lower marks were demanding the first group (Biology), which we initially refused. But due to their persistent demands, we ultimately relented,” the officer explained.
Addressing the allegations of illegal fees demanded from parents for admissions and marksheets, the official stated that such collections were strictly prohibited and assured that the matter would be investigated.
