Three youngsters from Medak district drowned in Haldi Vagu in Siddipet district after venturing into deep waters near a temple. All three of them allegedly did not know how to swim.
The deceased were identified as Yerragolla Prasanth Yadav (27), K. Vikas (26), and K. Anand Reddy (27), all residents of Narsapur town in Medak district.
According to Gajwel Circle Inspector (CI) Ravi Raju, the trio had travelled to Toopran on Wednesday to attend a wedding reception. Later in the evening, at around 5.30 p.m., they visited the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at Nacharam and ventured into the nearby Haldi Vagu and drowned.
The incident came to light later in the night and the authorities traced the identities of the victims through documents found inside a car parked near the stream. Rescue teams retrieved the bodies on Thursday morning.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
