Two All India N.R. Congress legislators – P. Rajavelu and V.P. Sivakolundhu – and a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator G.N.S. Rajasekaran were inducted into the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government headed by Chief Minister and AINRC founder N. Rangasamy in Puducherry on Wednesday (June 17, 2026).
At a ceremony held on the premises of Old Lok Nivas, Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan administered the oath to the Ministers. Mr. Rangasamy, Ministers A. Namassivayam and Malladi Krishna Rao, Pro-tem Speaker A. Anbalagan, and legislators belonging to the AINRC, BJP, DMK, TVK, and Independents attended the ceremony.

Immediately after the ceremony, the newly inducted Ministers assumed charge at their offices in the Legislative Assembly complex.
After the NDA returned to power in the 2026 Assembly polls, Mr. Rangasamy, along with two Ministers, were sworn in on May 13. With the swearing-in of three more Ministers, the full Cabinet in the 30-member Puducherry Assembly has assumed charge.
Discussions are on at various levels for the allocation of portfolios to the Ministers and the convening of the Assembly for holding election to the posts of Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
Sources in the government said that the portfolio allocation would be completed by the end of this week or early next week. BJP sources said the party’s national general secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santhosh and BJP’s in-charge for the UT Nirmal Kumar Surana will be in Puducherry to advance the talks on portfolio allocation.
