With the focus gradually shifting to elections in the end of 2028, the State Government has reportedly focussed attention on effective governance and delivery of services in keeping with the promises made in the election manifesto of the Congress.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has become the focus of attention since the past couple of days with transfers of senior officials and the spree of transfers down the line is expected to take place in the coming days. Transfer of Chief Minister’s secretary, K.S. Srinivasa Raju, who was looking after infrastructure and projects as RERA chairman and another Chief Minister’s secretary B. Ajit Reddy as Invest Telangana CEO are said to be part of the exercise.

Senior bureaucrat N. Sridhar will be the principal secretary to the Chief Minister at a time when another senior IAS officer V. Seshadri is continuing in the same designation in the CMO. Mr. Sridhar reputed for his efficient handling of responsibilities cast upon him worked with Chief Ministers N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and K. Chandrasekhar Rao in the past and has now been brought back to CMO again.

The development according to official sources indicate the seriousness with which Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is scouting for officials with proven track record to be in place in the run up the next elections. The appointment of senior bureaucrat Sanjay Jaju as the Chief Secretary is the first among the decisions taken in this direction.

The appointments are said to be aimed at ensuring effective coordination among the officials in the CMO as well as to ensure speedy and effective implementation of the decisions made at the top level so that there is no scope for complaints from the grass-roots levels.

Another major reason is said to be avoiding the scope for leak of information ahead of the announcement by the Chief Minister or the State Cabinet which landed the Government in an embarrassing situation in the past. The episode involving the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation Policy (HILTP), which BRS president K.T. Rama Rao revealed ahead of the official announcement, is being cited as an example in this direction.

Given the high stakes battle in the offing, the Chief Minister is understood to have taken a decision to ensure that reliable officers with good track record are put in key positions so that implementation of the welfare and developmental programmes will continue uninterrupted.

Officials are not ruling out the scope for some more transfers in the coming days once the new Chief Secretary Mr. Sanjay Jaju takes charge in the first week of July, as part of efforts to put in place an effective team capable of delivering services to the last mile.
