All 3,469 polling stations across the 11 Assembly constituencies have been readied, with the stage set for polling between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday (April 23, 2026).
On Wednesday (April 22, 3036), District Election Officer and Collector A. Arun Thamburaj inspected the arrangements at multiple centres, including the Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Sankari, Thiagarajar Polytechnic College in Salem, and Sowdeswari College in Kondalampatti.
According to officials, voting will take place in 3,469 polling stations — including one auxiliary booth — across the district’s 11 Assembly constituencies. As many as 16,644 polling personnel have been deployed, along with 254 micro-observers for sensitive locations and 1,335 police personnel for security arrangements. EVMs and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units, allotted through computerised randomisation, have been transported from strong rooms to the polling stations. A total of 112 items, including indelible ink, electoral rolls, writing materials, and sealing equipment, have also been supplied. Polling staff have completed preparatory work, and the booths are ready.
Earlier, the Collector reviewed security measures and preparatory work at Vivekananda College in Sankari, the counting centre for the Edappadi and Sankari constituencies.
