Anurag Meena has assumed charge as the new curator of the Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park (SVZP), Tirupati on Wednesday.

An IFS officer of the 2020 batch of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, Mr. Anurag succeeds C. Selvam who has been promoted as Conservator of Forest and posted to Kurnool circle.

Mr. Meena earlier served as Sub-Divisional Forest Officer at Railway Kodur and later as Deputy Director of Project Tiger at Nandyal of Nagarjuna Sagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve (NSTR).

Outgoing curator Mr. Selvam successfully implemented animal exchange programmes and undertook development works of animal enclosures, including the ‘White Tiger Safari.’ Mr. Meena assured that he would take forward the development to ensure highest standards of animal care, visitor education and conservation at the zoo park.
