A 29-year-old woman died after she being struck by lightning in Kavalgeri of Dharwad taluk on Sunday.
Jayashri Shirsangi died on the spot, while her husband Hanumanthappa Shirasangi was injured.
He is undergoing treatment in hospital.
Tahsildar Doddappa Hugar visited the hospital.
Most parts of Dharwad district, including the twin cities of Hubballi and Dharwad, received heavy rain on Sunday.
It was hot in the morning, while overcast condition prevailed in the afternoon. Later, dark clouds started gathering resulting in heavy rain for nearly two hours.
Alnavar, Kundgol and Kalghatgi too received heavy rain.
Frequent lightning was seen. Heavy winds were blowing. Several trees and electric poles were uprooted. There was power outage across the district for some time. Several important roads in the twin cities were waterlogged making it difficult for commuters.
