BITS Pilani has launched a new Bachelor of Computer Science programme in collaboration with RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia, under the BITS-RMIT Higher Education Academy. The programme will be offered from the 2026 academic intake and delivered through the 2+2 study model that enables students to complete the first two years at BITS Pilani in India followed by two years at RMIT University’s Melbourne campus. Researchers from VIT Bhopal University — faculty member Pushpdant Jain and students Manas Sahu, Megha Gupta, Swastik Kaurav, Praful Baghel, Aditya Vikram Singh, and Bhanav Lenka— have secured a design registration for a smart multi-purpose lamp stand that features an adjustable desk lamp equipped with dedicated storage compartments for stationery, a mobile phone holder, and a multifunctional base incorporating a clock and built-in speaker system. Designed to address the needs of students, professionals, and remote workers, the product combines lighting, organisation, and digital utility within a single compact device.

An open house by World Peace University Goa brought together students, parents, and educators to discuss the future of higher education, where speakers emphasised the need for universities to prepare students for emerging opportunities rather than only existing careers.

Researchers at IIT Kanpur led by Professor Arun K. Shukla have uncovered the molecular basis underlying the atypical signalling behaviour of C5aR2, an immune receptor that has puzzled scientists for years. The research was conducted in collaboration with The University of Queensland, and the University of Tokyo and Kyoto University in Japan. The study was supported by DBT Wellcome Trust India Alliance, Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Department of Science and Technology (DST), and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Prof. Ranjana Pathania from the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, Ph.D.Scholar Avik Pathak, and postdoctoral fellow Snehlata Saini from IIT Roorkee have uncovered a critical metabolic vulnerability in Acinetobacter baumannii, which is responsible for severe hospital-acquired infections worldwide. The study was published in the peer-reviewed journal mBio

The European Union has awarded 75 Indian students the two-year Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree scholarships for 2026-2028. Indian Institute of Creative Technologies has secured 100% placements for its students specialising in Environment Art from the Video Game programme.

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2027: From Australia, the University of Melbourne, Australia was ranked 22nd globally and Monash University ranked 31. From the U.K., the University of Warwick was placed 68 globally and 10 in the U.K; the University of Sheffield was ranked 82 globally and 14 in the U.K., and the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, was ranked 230. In India, Galgotias University was ranked in the 1201-1400 band globally.

In the Positive Impact Rating (PIR) for Business Schools, IIM-Bangalore scored 9.7 in the 2026 edition and was also designated a Level 5 Pioneering School. K J Somaiya Institute of Management, Mumbai, was recognised as a Level 4 Transforming School.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was ranked No. 1 in India and 37 globally for Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure in the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026.

Aakansha Natani, Assistant Professor; Siddhi Wadekar, Ph.D. scholar; and Sujal Deoda, student of B.Tech. Computer Science + MS Computing and Human Sciences from IIIT Hyderabad’s Human Sciences Research Centre won the Best Paper Award for their paper Emerging Institutional Pathways for AI Governance in India: Evidence from Public Procurement and Outsourcing at the sixth India Public Policy Network Conference hosted by the National Law School of India University.

Team Weak Testcase (Abhishek, B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering and Jatin Aggarwal and Piyush Keshan, B.Tech Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence) from IIIT Delhi have qualified for the finals of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) coding challenge.

Teams Airavata, Kryptos, Hacktro Tricks, Outlier Coders, and Nexora were awarded ₹1,00,000 each after emerging as victorious across five challenge tracks at the finale of STATATHON 2025-26, a national innovation challenge organised by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India, and AICTE.

Team Agniya from Manipal School of Architecture and Planning won the grand prize at the Solar Decathlon India2025-26 conducted by the Indian Institute for Human Settlements and the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy. Haji Public School, Breswana was the project partner.

Collaborations

BIT Mesra and IIT Kharagpur have signed an MoU to collaborate on research, faculty and staff development, and joint academic initiatives, including seminars, workshops, and specialised courses.

IIT Roorkee has partnered with WRI India to expand its industry and research collaborations on sustainable battery ecosystems and clean energy transition. The institute also signed an MoA with NAMTECH to establish the Research and Experiential Learning Centre on Sustainable Energy and Circularity with support from NTPC. Another MoU was signed with ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, to collaborate on sustainability, advanced manufacturing, research, technology development, and talent transformation.

Sambhuti Learning has partnered with Masterji Schools to introduce AI-driven tools into teaching, assessment, and school administration through its VidyaBuddhi platform.

INOX India and ITM SLS Baroda University have partnered to establish a Skilling Centre of Excellence for training in orbital welding and process piping for semiconductor and advanced electronics manufacturing infrastructure.

IIM Lucknow has signed an MoU with National Institute of Disaster Management, Delhi, to collaborate on disaster risk reduction, disaster financing, resilient infrastructure, capacity-building, research, and academic development.

NxtWave India has signed an MoU with IIT Kharagpur to give learners enrolling in the former’s NIAT initiative access to the latter’s micro-specialisation course(s) delivered through the IIT Kharagpur Outreach Course Network alongside the regular programme.
