Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), Mysuru, hosted “Open Day 2026” on Sunday, providing aspiring engineering students and parents an opportunity to explore academic excellence, innovation, and career opportunities in engineering education.
A statement noted that VVCE president Gundappa Gowda; secretary P. Vishwanath; associate vice-president, Infosys Ltd Mysuru, Sundar K.S.; alumnus of VVCE and senior design engineer Kyrosemi, Bengaluru, Ravindra V., CET expert and principal of Maharaja Government PU College, Mysuru Uday Shankar; principal of VVCE B. Sadashive Gowda; vice-principal of VVCE Shobha Shankar, and dean, Academic Affairs (first-year) G.V. Naveen Prakash.
Addressing the gathering, VVCE principal Mr. Gowda highlighted the institution’s academic and research achievements, stating that it ranks first in Mysuru city in faculty paper publications, 9th in Karnataka, and among the top 300 institutions in the country. He guided parents and students on choosing the right engineering college by considering factors such as affordability, experienced faculty, infrastructure, Centres of Excellence, sports facilities, reputation, accreditation, and co-curricular activities.
He also mentioned that the VVCE has awarded scholarships worth ₹1.08 crore to deserving students and emphasised the institution’s commitment to holistic student development. Highlighting the strong industry-academia connect, Mr. Gowda said that several companies are functioning on the VVCE campus, with students already working alongside them.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sundar stressed the importance of engineering in a technology-driven world and encouraged students to become effective problem solvers and business transformation partners. He emphasised that technology must be integrated with engineering and business understanding. Highlighting the impact of artificial intelligence, he advised students to continuously upskill themselves to stay relevant in the evolving industry.
During the interactive session, Mr. Ravindra spoke about the opportunities in Electronics and Communication Engineering (E&C), citing its strong industrial connect and flexibility in interdisciplinary projects. Mr. Shankar guided students and parents on the CET counselling process and informed decision-making during admissions.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, parents, faculty members, and alumni, with departments showcasing projects, laboratories, and innovations.
