Bharatiya Janata Party former State unit president K. Annamalai on Thursday said that the time has come to give Chief Minister and DMK leader M.K. Stalin a rest as he was “unfit” to rule the State.
Terming the ruling DMK government as worse, Mr. Annamalai said Tamil Nadu had not seen such a regime in the past and it should be voted out for being “anti-people” with the law and order situation having deteriorated in the last five years.
Campaigning in Pudukottai in support of BJP nominee N. Ramachandran in the Pudukottai Assembly constituency, Mr. Annamalai said that the DMK government had fulfilled just 15 % of the 511 poll promises it had given in the run up to the 2021 Assembly elections and not 99% as claimed by the Chief Minister.
The DMK-Congress combine was of no “use” for Tamil Nadu, Mr. Annamalai said recalling the genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka at the height of the civil war in the island nation; ban on jallikattu and the hydrocarbon exploration project which all happened during the Congress-led UPA government in which the DMK was a partner and ruled Tamil Nadu during that period. The DMK-Congress combine should be “rooted out” in Tamil Nadu.
Pitching for AIADMK-led NDA government in Tamil Nadu, Mr. Annamalai said the “corrupt” DMK regime should be removed to ensure the safety of women and the growth of Tamil Nadu. Alleging that Mr. Stalin was lying on the Delimitation Bill, Mr. Annamalai said the exercise would eventually increase the number of Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu and other States.
