Vijayapura MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal is of the opinion that it was unbecoming of former Karnataka chief minister B. S. Yediyurappa to fall at the feet of Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the ‘Abhimanotsava’ (event to celebrate his 50 years in politics) in Davanagere.

“Mr. Yediyurappa is senior to Mr. Shah by several years. Images of a senior man falling at the feet of a much younger man is sending a wrong message to the people. Mr. Yediyurappa can respect Mr. Shah as a senior party leader, but he should not fall at his feet. It is not good,” Mr. Yatnal said.

To a question, Mr. Yatnal said that he would soon form his new party, to be named JCB, as it would have leaders from the Janata Party, Congress and BJP. “I will start a statewide tour soon. I will not join the BJP till the Yediyurappa family is leading the party in Karnataka. However, there are indications that the national leadership of the BJP will slowly push Mr. Yediyurappa out of the party,” he said.
