The Progressive Democratic Students’ Union (PDSU) on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Union Ministry of Education and the National Testing Agency (NTA), demanding the immediate resignation of the Union Education Minister following cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 examination due to paper leak allegations.

The student body placed several demands before the Centre, and sought the resignation of the Union Education Minister for repeated lapses.

The NTA officially scrapped the medical entrance test held on May 3, affecting over 23 lakh aspirants nationwide. This follows a similar crisis last year, leading student bodies to question the government’s ability to conduct a foolproof national-level examination.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, PDSO State general secretary A. Suresh said that the repeated leaks are a monumental failure of the administrative machinery. He noted that preliminary investigations in Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Maharashtra have confirmed that a guess paper circulated on social media prior to the exam matched over 100 questions in the actual question paper.

The sanctity of the national examination syste has been compromised yet again. It is reported that leaked papers were sold for prices ranging between ₹.30,000 to ₹20 lakh.

“This is not just a leak; it is a well-organised syndicate operating under the nose of the NTA”, Mr. Suresh alleged.

The PDSO highlighted the the recurring scams have a severe mental and financial toll on students from marginalised backgrounds. He stated that lakhs of poor and middle-class students spend their families’ hard-earned savings on coaching and preparation, and such systemic negligence pushes them into deep mental distress.
