Several Congress cadre staged demonstrations at various places in the central region on Friday condemning Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar for not inviting Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), founded by actor turned politician C. Joseph Vijay, to form the government.
The demonstrators condemned the BJP-led NDA government and accused the Tamil Nadu Governor of acting as a puppet of the Centre and against the Constitution with the intention of preventing the TVK from forming the government, even though the party has emerged as the single largest party.
In Tiruchi City, a group of around 120 Congress members staged a demonstration near the old Collectorate for about 30 minutes. The demonstration was led by the party’s urban district president L. Rex.
In Pudukottai Town, the demonstration was led by the party’s Pudukottai north district president D. Bennet Anthonyraj. The party also organised demonstrations in Ariyalur and Perambalur towns.
