A team from the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) has completed a two-day study of the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) road network and related infrastructure being developed in Amaravati, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh. The study focused on roads being laid by the State government in various LPS zones earmarked for returnable plots to capital-region farmers.
During the field visit, the CRRI experts inspected internal roads, stormwater drainage systems, sewerage networks and power infrastructure in LPS Zones 2, 5, 9, 10, 12 and 12A. The team reviewed the construction designs and development plans prepared by the Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC).
On Tuesday, the CRRI delegation presented its findings to ADC Chairperson and Managing Director D. Lakshmi Parthasarathy through a detailed PowerPoint presentation.
The experts recommended that LPS roads be designed to withstand a cumulative traffic load of 5 million standard axles (5 MSA), while trunk roads should be built to accommodate traffic loads of up to 100 MSA, ensuring long-term durability and performance.
The meeting was attended by CRRI Director C.H. Ravisekhar, Chief Scientist Dr. K. Ravinder, Principal Scientist Dr. Bharat, Chief Scientist Dr. P.S. Prasad, Senior Principal Scientist S.H. Dinesh Ganvir, ADC Chief Engineers C.H. Dhanunjaya and B. Narasimha Murthy, and other officials.
