The pre-commissioning activities for Unit II at Tuticorin Thermal Power Station (TTPS) commenced on Thursday.
The fire accident that had occurred at the power station in March, 2025 had caused extensive damage to Unit I and II, and revamping works have progressed at rapid pace through dedicated efforts of the engineers and employees of TTPS along with Chennai Radha Engineering Works Pvt Ltd.
Speaking on this occasion, Chief Engineer F.X. Mary Magdalin Princy stated that following the fire accident extensive restoration and revamping works were undertaken on a war footing, and as a significant milestone in the journey pre-commissioning activities of Unit II was inaugurated on Thursday.
She added that as per schedule all the remaining works of Unit II are expected to be completed in July, after which it will be commissioned and begin supplying electricity to the grid at its full capacity.
Ms. Princy further stated that the revamping works of Unit I is progressing steadily, and is expected to attain its full generation capacity by September.
