After two days of heavy rainfall, large crowds gathered at Karaikal beach on Sunday as the weather turned pleasant with no rain during the day.
Several hundred families visited the beach, taking advantage of the improved weather conditions. Children were seen playing enthusiastically along the shore, while many others spent time enjoying the sea breeze. The recent spell of rain also brought relief from the intense heat that had prevailed across the district over the past two weeks.
Farmers who had sown seeds for early kuruvai cultivation expressed relief, noting that a continuation of the wet spell could have caused significant losses and forced them to re-sow the seeds. With the weather turning favourable, residents made the most of the brief respite, leading to a surge in visitors to the beach.
