An aircraft made priority landing at the Chennai International Airport after a 58-day-old infant’s health condition deteriorated onboard on Saturday.
The parents – Mwai and Muthoni – who were citizens of Kenya, were on their way to a private hospital in Manapakkam, Chennai, to get medical treatment for the infant’s heart condition.
On noticing the deteriorating condition of the child, they informed the cabin crew about it, following which the flight captain requested priority landing for the flight.
According to the police, the aircraft was permitted priority landing 23 minutes ahead of the scheduled time of arrival at 8.15 a.m.
After the aircraft landed at 7.52 a.m., the medical team at the airport immediately examined the infant and declared the child dead.
