A 38-year-old man was found murdered near the Nagapattinam railway station in the early hours on Thursday. The police gave the name of the victim as N. Arun, a fisherman of Akkaraipettai. The body found with cuts on the head and face. On receipt of information, the police personnel and scientific officers inspected the scene of crime.
The body was shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital at Orathur in Nagapattinam for autopsy. The motive behind the crime and the accused involved in the offence are under investigation. The Nagapattinam Town police have registered a case.
In another case, the body of a woman, aged around 40, was found at a two-wheeler parking lot near the entrance of the Nagapattinam Government Hospital on Thursday. The victim was identified as D. Chitra of Kilvelur. The body was found with blood stains in the rear side of the head. The body was sent for autopsy. The Velipalayam police are investigating, said police sources.
