St. Stephen’s College on Tuesday announced the appointment of Susan Elias as the 14th principal of the college. She will be the first woman to hold the post since the college’s inception in 1881. Paul Swarup, the college chairman, stated in an official announcement that Ms. Elias will take charge on June 1 and succeed Professor John Varghese, who was appointed in 2016.
Ms. Elias, a PhD from Anna University, has a science background and is currently serving as pro vice-chancellor at the Lucknow campus of Chandigarh University.
