Coimbatore district’s nine of the 10 Assembly constituencies saw a change of guard and eight of the elected candidates are first time MLAs.
When the counting of votes started at the Government College of Technology in Coimbatore city on Monday morning for the 10 Assembly constituencies in the district, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam candidates registered high number of votes as the DMK and AIADMK candidates right from the first round of counting. The candidates in Kinathukadavu (K. Vignesh), Coimbatore North (V. Sampathkumar) and Singanallur (KS Sri Giri Prasath) were leading from the first round of counting.
