Leaders from various communities and members of several organisations will take out a protest march in Hubballi on Thursday seeking Ministerial berth for three-time MLA Prasad Abbayya.

Addressing a joint press conference in Hubballi on Tuesday, Congress leaders Vasant Ladwa, Raja Desai, Yusuf Savanur, the former MLC Mohan Limbikai and others said that that the three-time MLA from Hubballi-Dharwad East Constituency deserved to be made a Minister and the party high command should consider his candidature.

The protest march will be taken out from Ambedkar Circle to the Mini Vidhana Soudha in Hubballi and a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister will be submitted to the tahsildar.

Mr. Raja Desai said that considering his service for more than a decade, Mr. Prasad Abbayya should be given a chance as he has the ability to take people of all communities into confidence and tread the path of development.

The former president of Anjuman-e-Islam Yusuf Savanur said that Mr. Abbayya treated members of all communities equally and he deserved an opportunity to serve as Minister.

Mr. Mohan Limbikai said that Prasad Abbayya is very well aware of the problems of the region and a pro-development leader like him should be given a chance to serve as Minister.

Congress leaders Vasant Ladwa, Prafullachandra Rayanagoudra, Rajashekhar Menasinakai, Mahendra Singhi, Taradevi Wali, Gurunath Ullikashi of Samatha Sena, the former councillor Ganesh Tagargunti emphasised the need for making Mr. Abbayya a Minister.

They also said that they planned to take a delegation to Bengaluru on Saturday to meet the party high command seeking a Ministerial berth for Mr. Abbayya.
