Lack of bus services
Many people from Eruvadi town panchayat reside in far off places like Chennai, Tiruchi, Coimbatore and other states. However, passengers arriving from these places face difficulties in boarding a bus from Tirunelveli new bus stand to Eruvadi between 4 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. due to the lack of adequate bus services during these hours. The transport department authorities are requested to address the issue.

Road violation
Using agriculture cage-wheeled vehicles in public places is legally prohibited. However, tractors with iron wheels are plying very normally in the highways in and around Thazhakudy. Nobody has bothered to remove the cage wheels before the tractor enters the public infrastructure from paddy fields. Even the newly laid roads are not spared by the tractor drivers, leading to damage to the roads within a short span of time.
In addition, this also becomes a source of noise pollution, since it produces 90-110 dB. As per the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, the practice is punishable. The authorities vested with power to penalise the offenders and seize the vehicles which cause damage to the public roads are requested to take appropriate action. The sign boards to warn of such illegal and unmindful practice are erected in important places, but nobody cares. In many areas miscreants either damage the boards or remove them. Will the authorities take stringent action to curb this unlawful activity?

Removal of Prosopis juliflora
The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court has ordered the permanent removal of Prosopis juliflora from the state and accordingly directed the Tamil Nadu government to form special teams in each and every district. But no tangible steps seem to have been taken so far.
This invasive plant on both sides of the Railway track and the vacant lands adjoining the railway stations in Madurai division of southern railway may be cleared by the railway authorities as a model step. The authorities concerned of Tamil Nadu government may consider the removal of these plants along the banks of Thamirabarani river immediately. The members of the public should also realize the urgency of the situation and remove these plants from their own lands.

Need for traffic signals
The volume of traffic in Palayamkottai road in Thoothukudi is very heavy, particularly since it connects the collectorate and bus stand. There are no traffic signals starting from bus stand to Third Mile except the two, one at vegetable market and VVD junction. This makes the public, college students and school going children very difficult to cross the roads. If the traffic signals are installed in the stretch from VVD junction to Collectorate at appropriate junctions, it will minimise the problem. The authorities are requested to look into the matter and do the needful.
