Congress Working Committee member Gidugu Rudra Raju on Saturday (May 16, 2026) urged the Union government to initiate a high level judicial probe monitored by the Supreme Court over the leakage of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) question papers and other 88 leakages of examination papers in the last one decade.

Speaking to The Hindu over telephone, he said the 22,05,035 students who appeared for examinations in 5,432 centres on May 3, 2026 had become victims with cancellation of NEET examinations. He said India’s image got damaged worldwide as NEET examination was held in 14 other countries including U.A.E., Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Singapore, Thailand and Sri Lanka.

“The persons involved in previous leakages were given bails with the casual approach in framing charges against the culprits. So, there is no use with the CBI probe ordered recently by the Central government. We request the Supreme Court to take the issue as a suo moto and instill confidence among the students as well as parents,” he said.

Mr. Rudra Raju asked the government to sack all top officials of National Testing Agency (NTA) which failed to ensure proper entrance examinations for MBBS and other courses in the country. He claimed that the previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government used to take utmost care in conducting the examinations in a foolproof manner.

Mr. Rudra Raju alleged that the BJP leaders were also involved in leakages and examination scams. He alleged that the NDA government was busy with politics while ignoring the administration in the country. He asked the Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan to step down immediately, taking the responsibility for the leakage of NEET-2026 examination papers.
