South Central Railway (SCR)’s Railway Protection Force (RPF) rescued 120 children—96 boys and 24 girls—who were either lost or got separated from their families for various reasons and safely handed them over to Child Welfare Committees. In addition, five boys were rescued from human traffickers, with two offenders arrested last month.

In a separate incident, RPF personnel also saved a person from a life-threatening situation. Overall, the force arrested 79 offenders and recovered stolen property worth ₹54.52 lakh across 71 registered cases. Additionally, 319 belongings of passengers, valued at ₹83.35 lakh, were retrieved and returned to their rightful owners.

Leveraging CCTV surveillance, the RPF apprehended 11 offenders and recovered stolen passenger property worth ₹26.65 lakh, which was handed over to the concerned authorities for further legal action. Another 36 cases involving theft of railway property were detected, with recoveries amounting to ₹6.03 lakh.

The RPF also took action against illegal ticketing, registering 24 cases, arresting 26 touts, and seizing 66 live tickets worth ₹2.21 lakh. In its crackdown on narcotics and illicit goods, the force seized ganja valued at ₹86.17 lakh and arrested 16 persons. Liquor worth ₹2.47 lakh, being transported illegally, was also confiscated. The seized goods were handed over to the Excise Department, which registered 12 cases in connection with the offences, said a press release on Thursday.
