DMK president and former Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on Friday (June 26, 2026) said no decision has been taken yet on contesting in an Assembly bypoll.

Recently, DMK strongman K. N. Nehru had said Mr. Stalin would soon re-enter the Assembly. This had triggered speculation on the likelihood of the DMK president contesting from the Tiruchi East seat, vacated by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, who had retained the Perambur constituency.

When journalists asked Mr. Stalin in Chennai about it, he said “No decision has been taken, yet. I shall let you know after a decision is taken.”
