Health officials in Kozhikode district are undertaking Nipah containment steps in Ramanattukara municipality after forming clusters of houses in the division from where the infection has been reported.

Containment zones have not been declared in the area so far. Official sources said on Saturday (June 13) that health workers had completed surveys in 320 houses in Division 5. Efforts were also made from the control room set up at the district collectorate to contact the 100 people on the contact list of the infected person.

Around 30 calls were received at the control room to clear doubts about the lethal zoonotic disease. So far, 80 such calls have been reported. Also, as part of the district mental health programme, 76 people on the contact list were offered mental health support.
