Nitish Kumar is set to step down as Bihar Chief Minister on Monday (April 13, 2026), paving the way for the formation of a new government in the State two days later, according to senior leaders from his Janata Dal (United) party who met with him at the CM’s official residence for two hours on Saturday (April 11, 2026).
“Before his resignation, Mr. Kumar will first hold the last meeting of his Cabinet and address his party MLAs. Soon after that, the NDA legislators will meet in Patna, where the name of the next CM is likely to be announced,” said a senior JD(U) leader who did not wish to be named.
