Senior MDMK leader and Tiruchi MP Durai Vaiko on Sunday said the newly elected TVK Government in the State should be given six months time to prove its performance, and if shortcomings continue even after that his party would point them out.
He was addressing media persons at Kadayanallur in Tenkasi district after inaugurating the MLA office of MDMK MLA T.M. Rajendran.
Mr. Durai Vaiko said the Tamil Nadu Government had implemented Singappen Special Task Force scheme aimed at creating a safer environment for women and children in the State. As with the previous government, swift action was being taken in criminal cases. Accused persons were being arrested and charge sheets filed within 48 hours in many instances.
The government was functioning under highly challenging conditions, including a State debt of ₹10.50 lakh crore, and the State continued to face long-standing issues in electricity and transport sectors.
On recurring power outages, he said the government must immediately conduct a comprehensive review to determine if the disruptions stemmed from power generation or distribution issues and release a detailed report.
