Reopen railway post office
Closure of the Madurai Railway Divisional Office Post Office from June 1 has caused considerable inconvenience to railway employees, their families and residents of nearby areas. The post office had been serving customers for over three decades.
After merging it with Arasaradi Head Post Office, customers are now forced to travel nearly two kilometres for routine transactions, causing hardships, particularly to senior citizens and employees.
Postal Department should take steps to reopen the post office in the interest of the public.

Commuters face hardship
Ongoing redevelopment of Madurai Railway Junction has resulted in inadequate passenger amenities on several platforms.
The removal of passenger shelters on platforms 4 and 5 has left commuters exposed to the sun and rain, causing considerable hardship.
Further, faulty public announcement systems on platforms 2 and 3 and non-functional coach indicators on several platforms create confusion and inconvenience, especially during train arrivals.
The railway administration should restore these basic facilities at the earliest to ensure passenger comfort and safety during the renovation period.
