A super speciality hospital set up in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, for whose operationalisation public sector miner NMDC extended financial support, was inaugurated virtually on Monday by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the presence of that State’s Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.

Developed by the Chhattisgarh government under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), the hospital meets a critical regional healthcare need for the tribal communities of Bastar which had to travel long distances earlier to access specialised treatment, NMDC said in a release on Tuesday.

The company ensured the operational readiness of the facility by bringing on board a reputed private healthcare partner and extending financial support. The State government, in turn, entrusted the private corporate hospital with managing the operations and NMDC with funding the initial operational expenditure.

Located in Dimrapal, Jagdalpur, the hospital is expected to reduce dependence on metropolitan centres for critical healthcare needs and ensure timely access to quality medical treatment for thousands of families across south Chhattisgarh. The hospital will provide free treatment to underserved communities.

A key driver of industrial and social development in Chhattisgarh, the company is investing ₹25 crore in the operationalisation of the hospital. It has committed sustained financial support of a similar scale over the next five years, helping the institution evolve into a self-sufficient healthcare ecosystem. For decades, it has invested in building social infrastructure in Bastar, particularly in healthcare and education, NMDC said.
