Due to Chennai Metro Rail’s underground construction work on Lattice Bridge (L.B.) Road, the stretch from the Indian Oil Petrol Bunk Junction to the L.B. Road-M.G. Road Junction will be completely closed to traffic, the Greater Chennai City Traffic Police has said.

Accordingly, the following traffic diversions and regulations will be implemented from Saturday (June 27, 2026):

Diversion for buses and heavy vehicles towards Thiru.Vi.Ka Bridge:

All buses and heavy vehicles proceeding from Thiruvanmiyur towards the Thiru.Vi.Ka. Bridge shall be diverted at the L.B. Road-M.G. Road Junction and routed towards M.G. Road, Shastri Nagar 1st Main Road, to take a left turn at Shastri Nagar 1st Avenue, L.B. Road.

Similarly, vehicles coming from Besant Nagar will be diverted to 7th Avenue M.G. Road to take a right turn to reach Shastri Nagar 1st Main Road, take a left turn to proceed through Shastri Nagar 1st Avenue and L.B. Road, and thereafter continue towards their respective destinations.

Diversion for vehicles towards Thiruvanmiyur

Vehicles travelling from L.B. Road towards Thiruvanmiyur shall proceed via: L.B. Road-Shastri Nagar Junction, Shastri Nagar 1st Avenue, right turn to 11th Cross Street, left turn towards 8th Cross Street, right turn to 10th Cross Street, M.G. Road, and thereafter continue towards their respective destinations.

Conversion of one-ways and two-ways

The road stretches that were previously operating as one-way roads:

From Shastri Nagar 1st Main Road to L.B. Road via Mahatma Gandhi Road, and from Shastri Nagar 1st Avenue to Shastri Nagar 1st Main Road will be converted into two-way traffic corridors for the duration of the diversion.

Shastri Nagar 1st Main Road shall operate as a one-way road towards Thiru.Vi.Ka. Bridge. 11th Cross Street shall operate as a one-way road towards Thiruvanmiyur.

Diversion for light motor vehicles and other vehicles towards Thiru.Vi.Ka Bridge

Light motor vehicles and all other vehicles travelling from Thiruvanmiyur towards Thiru.Vi.Ka. Bridge shall be diverted at the L.B. Road-M.G. Road Junction and routed through Indira Nagar 2nd Avenue, 1st Main Road, 1st Avenue, L.B. Road (Indian Oil Petrol Bunk Signal Junction) and thereafter, vehicles may proceed towards their intended destinations.

The movement of heavy vehicles will be prohibited on Indira Nagar 2nd Avenue Road during the diversion period.
