Despite the wave that swept across the State, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) did not manage to win even a single seat in four of the nine districts in the central region.

Although the party made a significant inroads in the region, the widespread support it had garnered failed to convert into seats in Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur, and Ariyalur districts.
