As a part of ‘Palle Nidra’ (village night stay) initiative, Collector P. Raja Babu interacted with the residents of Pothavaram village in Darsi mandal of Prakasam district on Friday (April 10) night. During the interaction with the residents he was made aware of a number of pending issues, which he directed the officials to resolve immediately.
He listened patiently to every issue raised by the villagers. The major problems raised by residents include laying of CC roads in the village, repairs to be taken up on the damaged Pothavaram–Thimmaipalem road, construction of drains, encroachments in Tanamchinthala village, road widening and water supply from Darsi canal to the pond near the village.
The villagers highlighted the water scarcity in Darsi constituency and urged the district authorities to take initiatives to solve the problem. In Devavaram village, some 90 small and marginal farmers, who have been cultivating government land for many years, urged the Collector to provide them identity cards.
Mr. Raja Babu directed the officials to replace the temporary SADAREM certificates with permanent ones to the persons with disabilities (PWDs). Noting that a large number of Anganwadi centers in the mandal were running in rented buildings, the District Collector directed the concerned officials to construct their new buildings for them.
Identifying that there are many dialysis patients in Darsi going to Markapuram and Kanigiri for treatment, the Collector ordered to set up a dialysis centre in Darsi Government Hospital.
He participated in a special puja conducted at the local Shiva temple. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in-charge of Darsi constituency Gottipati Lakshmi also participated in this programme.
