The Railway Protection Force (RPF), Mysuru, apprehended a man on the Bengaluru-Shivamogga Town Jan Shatabdi Express, who was impersonating a travelling ticket examiner (TTE).

In a complaint to Government Railway Police (GRP), Deputy Chief Ticket Examiner Yashwant J. said a passenger in coach C-1 on Train No. 12089 KSR Bengaluru-Shivamogga Town Jan Shatabdi Express, claiming to be a TTE on June 1.

On inquiry, the individual displayed a fake identity card on his mobile phone, said a statement by the Mysuru Railway Division here on Wednesday.

During inquiry, the man identified himself as Rakibuddin M.K., 26, a resident of Shivamogga. “Further questioning revealed that he was neither a Railway employee nor an authorised TTE. He admitted to boarding the train with the intention of collecting money from passengers by falsely posing as a Railway ticket examiner,” the Railways said. 

He was apprehended for fraudulent activities on trains and handed over to GRP in Arsikere by the on-duty TTE, following which a case was registered by GRP Arsikere and investigation has been taken up.

In another noteworthy action under Operation Amanat, RPF Mysuru successfully traced and returned a misplaced mobile phone to its rightful owner.

On June 2, 2026, a Rail Madad complaint was received from a passenger who reported misplacing his mobile phone while travelling in Coach B-1, Berth No. 49 of Train No. 16591 Express from Guntakal to Mandya. 

Acting promptly on the complaint, constable from RPF, Mysuru, Rajendra Kumar, checked the train upon its arrival and recovered the misplaced mobile phone. The phone was secured and brought to the RPF Post, Mysuru, for safe custody.

Subsequently, sub inspector, RPF Harish S. P. contacted the complainant and informed him about the recovery of the mobile phone. 

On the same day, the passenger, identified as Dilip Kumar Reddy, 46, a resident of Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, visited the RPF Post. After verification of his identity, the recovered mobile phone, valued at approximately ₹20,000, was handed over to him under proper acknowledgement, a statement from the Railways said.
