Jeongwoo Ham was a largely unknown commodity outside South Korea before he teed off at the Singapore Open, but the 31-year-old left the Sentosa shores only after making a mark with his maiden title on the Asian Tour.
There was double delight for Ham as the first-place finish in the International Series tournament also earned him a spot, along with second-placed Cameron John, at The Open Championship.
“Watching Korean and other Asian players at The Open... it was something that I could only be envious of. I did not expect the dream to turn into reality. The Open will be a new experience for me. I will go there to have a lot of fun,” said Ham, who was competing in an Asian Tour event outside Korea for only the eighth time.
