The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), in coordination with Punjagutta police, arrested an alleged drug peddler and three consumers during a joint operation, seizing MDMA and hashish worth ₹1.4 lakh.
The accused were identified as Thakur R Keshav Raj Singh, 30, a resident of Secunderabad, and the three consumers as Rohan Williams, 30, a software employee from West Maredpally, Ayush Gupta, 30, an HR professional from East Maredpally, and Lakkireddy Nikhil Anurag, 29, an AI engineer from Chilkalguda.
Police said the operation was conducted on Saturday (May 9) within the limits of Punjagutta police station following specific information.
During the raid, officers seized 13.5 grams of MDMA and seven grams of hashish from the accused.
A case was registered at Punjagutta police station under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act. According to investigators, the prime accused had completed an MBA and briefly worked in sales and marketing before moving into real estate and stock market-related activities.
Police said he allegedly developed a habit of consuming narcotic substances and later began sourcing drugs through contacts linked to absconding suppliers. Investigators said he subsequently entered drug peddling to make quick money and mainly targeted pub circles, party networks and acquaintances across Hyderabad.
The accused allegedly used hand-to-hand delivery methods and accepted cash payments to avoid leaving digital trails. Police said the seized contraband was intended for supply among consumers in social and party circles.
Officials noted that the case reflects a growing concern over educated and employed youth becoming involved in narcotics consumption and peddling. The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and urged parents to closely monitor behavioural changes and peer associations of their children.
Police asked the public to share information related to drug activity with H-NEW on 8712661601.
