The Forest Department has taken upon itself to be the voice of villagers from the core area of Amrabad Tiger Reserve who have expressed willingness to relocate to non-forest areas, amid opposition from a group of Chenchu men and women who recently submitted a representation at the Prajavani grievance redressal programme at Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad.
In a statement, the department highlighted a rally by nearly 200 tribal and non-tribal families seeking early implementation of the relocation process. The villagers belong to the hamlets of Sarlapally, Kudichintalabayalu, Kollampenta and Thatigundala Penta in Nagarkurnool district.
