An investment of ₹200.21 crore has been approved for the Visakhapatnam ITI Cluster under the Prime Minister’s Skill Education and Training Upgradation (PM-SETU) programme.
Describing the development as a significant achievement for Andhra Pradesh, Visakhapatnam Member of Parliament M. Sribharat said: “The State has emerged as the first in the country to implement the PM-SETU initiative through an industry-led partnership model,” adding that the progress reflects the effective coordination between the Central and State Governments.
Mr. Sribharat said that under the programme, advanced skill training will be imparted to over 25,000 youth over the next five years. He added that Improved infrastructure, modern training equipment, stronger industry linkages, and enhanced employment opportunities are expected to significantly elevate the quality of technical education across participating ITIs.
Highlighting the employment potential of the initiative, he said that the programme has been structured to achieve a 75% placement target. It will improve access to quality jobs and better career prospects for local youth. The project will also help students acquire industry-ready skills and boost their employability in high-growth sectors.
