Various programmes for passengers and staff working at the Coimbatore International Airport marked the celebration of Yatri Suvidha Diwas 2026 on Monday. Celebrations commenced with the traditional welcoming of passengers with tika/tilak. Students of Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women performed Badaga dance for them.

Employees of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and representatives of stakeholder organisations rendered Vande Mataram, reflecting the spirit of patriotism, said Airport Director Mohammad Arif.

A total of 20 persons donated blood in a camp organised in coordination with the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. A health check-up camp organised in collaboration with Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital benefited over 180 persons, including airport employees, stakeholder staff, passengers, and visitors. Over 110 persons, including airport taxi drivers, airport and stakeholder staff, passengers and visitors underwent eye screening and consultations in an eye camp organised in association with Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital, he said.

According to him, a cleanliness drive was undertaken to promote hygiene and cleanliness within the airport premises. A plantation drive was conducted under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ to encourage tree plantation and environmental stewardship.

Contract personnel engaged by AAI and the women workforce of various stakeholder organisations were felicitated with certificates of appreciation and saplings in recognition of their valuable contributions, Mr. Arif said.

Around 50 college students took part in a career counselling session organised by AAI officials to create awareness on diverse career opportunities available in the aviation sector. A drawing competition was organised for children. Selfie points were installed at prominent locations within the terminal building to encourage passenger participation in the celebrations.a
