The Sechenov First Moscow State Medical (SMSM) University in Russia has assigned the official status of ‘Visiting Professor’ to the chairman, Department of Organic Chemistry, University of Mysore, Mysuru, Basappa Salundi.
According to a statement, the university selects international specialists and orders their profiles to be published on its official website.
“The status of ‘Visiting Professor of Sechenov University’, which has existed since 2025, is an honorary, lifelong title for recognised external specialists. It does not entail formal employment or salary, as visiting professors are not full-time employees,” the statement said.
“Attracting such world-class experts enhances the university’s prestige and competitiveness, builds a pool of loyal, leading scientists, and facilitates an increase in the number of publications and international grants,” the statement added.
