The Jothimani Iraipani Thirukootam, Kumbakonam, has appealed to the Centre and the State government to keep the Chola-era Anaimangalam copper plates on public display at the Government Museum, Nagapattinam.
In a statement on May 18, the Jothimani Iraipani Thirukootam leader, Thiruvatikudil Swamigal, congratulated and thanked the Centre and the State government for their efforts in bringing back the enduring records of Tamil history.
Pleading that the copper plates, popularly known as Leiden Copper Plates till now, should be preserved and displayed at the Government Museum in Nagapattinam, he requested the State government to expedite the renovation work, taken up some two years ago, at the Nagapattinam museum and reopen it with the Chola-era artefact added to the museum’s collection.
